ABOUT ME
I am Kevin Ansi, widely known as Director Kevans, a Nigerian filmmaker, director, and cinematographer whose approach to storytelling is shaped by a foundation in cinematography and editing. My work is rooted in atmosphere, intention, and emotional precision, with a focus on creating experiences that stay with audiences long after the screen fades to black.
I am drawn to stories that carry tension beneath the surface. Whether working on narrative films, documentaries, commercials, or branded content, I pay close attention to both performance and visual language, shaping not just what the audience sees, but how they feel.
My background as a cinematographer and editor allows me to approach directing with an understanding of the entire filmmaking process. I compose with intention, shoot with the edit in mind, and build rhythm long before post-production begins. Every creative decision is made in service of the story.
Alongside narrative filmmaking, I have a deep interest in documentary and travel-based storytelling. Capturing real environments and unscripted human moments continually sharpens my ability to observe, interpret, and translate emotion through film.
Originally from Jos and working between Lagos and Abuja, I have collaborated with government institutions, foreign missions, entertainment talents, entrepreneurs, and independent creatives across Nigeria. These experiences have allowed me to work across different cultures, industries, and storytelling formats while maintaining a consistent creative voice.
Through Krafted Filmworks, my media production and creative consultancy company, I continue to develop original film projects while expanding into commercial, branded, and documentary spaces. My goal is simple: to tell compelling stories with honesty, craft, and intention.

I have directed projects across narrative films, documentaries, commercials, and music-driven content, bringing together visual storytelling, performance, and atmosphere to create meaningful audience experiences.
My approach to directing is shaped by my background in cinematography and editing. I am drawn to stories where emotion is felt rather than explained, where performances, framing, movement, and rhythm work together to reveal what words often cannot.
On set, I value clarity, collaboration, and intention. Every creative decision, from performance direction to camera placement, is made in service of the story. Regardless of the project, my goal remains the same: to craft compelling visual experiences that are emotionally honest, visually engaging, and unforgettable.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
Camera, Light, Action!
Years behind the camera have shaped my understanding of light, composition, and movement. I approache cinematography as an extension of storytelling rather than decoration.
My visual style leans toward atmosphere and balance. Frames are composed to support characters, not overpower them. Camera movement is purposeful, often subtle, and designed to draw the viewer inward without distraction.
VIDEO EDITING
Editing & Color
Talking about editing, I focus on rhythm and emotional continuity. I see editing as the final stage of directing, where structure, pacing, and silence come together to define how a story is experienced.
Through color, I subtly shape atmosphere, guiding mood and reinforcing the emotional undercurrent of each scene.
My approach favors restraint over excess. Cuts are motivated by feeling rather than speed, allowing moments to breathe when necessary and tighten when tension demands it. This sensitivity to rhythm informs my work from the earliest stages of production.
TRAVEL & DOCUMENTARY
Local & International
Beyond scripted narratives, I am drawn to real spaces and unscripted human moments. Travel and documentary filmmaking allow me to explore culture, environment, and atmosphere with honesty and restraint.
